New Marist Education Ministry

February 10, 2010 by admin

The JC Colin Team finished its 5-year mandate at the end of 2009 and a full review was held.

It is clear that the type of ministry being offered to schools and associated groups within them is very highly valued. It was also evident that the model [of JC Colin] needed to be revised in the light of what has been achieved in the past five years and the future shape of who is available for this ministry.

In the light of that – and to highlight the development of (and changes in) the ministry – the JC Colin “name” is now no longer in use and has been replaced (at least temporarily) by Marist Education Ministry.

Mark Walls will continue to work full-time in this ministry and the Province will continue to provide support for him. We are also involved in negotiations with the National Network of Marist Schools to see what is the most appropriate form of support we can provide to them over the next few years.

Gerard Tully will continue to work on a part-time basis with Mark in the Marist Education Ministry. Gerard will also spend time at 78 Hobson Street in conjunction with the Spirituality Team – his initial task there will be to undertake an intensive programme in Marist spirituality and charism with an eye to his working alongside Denis O’Hagan, David Kennerley and Kitty McKinley at times.
