Society of Mary considering new governance structures

February 1, 2012 by

The Society of Mary General Administration is giving consideration to a draft discussion paper on the Review of Marist Government throughout the Society.

The paper was produced by Dr. John Honner and is also being studied by provincials and district superiors and their councils.

The present plan is that after receiving feed-back from the Society’s leadership Dr. Honner will prepare a final version of his discussion paper which will be circulated for consultation among the Society’s membership in the middle of the year.

The last General Chapter had commissioned the Superior General to undertake an external review of all levels of government—general, provincial, district and their relationship with each other—before the next Council of the Society in 2013 with the view to the continuation of structural change in the Society.
