Taking a 3D View on Life

The more alert amongst you may have noticed that I haven‟t referred to films for some months.
That may be a relief for some – but actually it‟s been simply a reflection that I didn‟t get to see any movies for quite an extended period towards the end of last year.

Rere mai, rere atu, the River flows

One of the best moments I experienced over summer was stopping alongside the Atiwhakatu River near Mt Holdsworth, in from Masterton. It was evening and I found a log near the side of the river. There were bush and ferns around me and slowly I noticed birds catching insects and heard them singing. It was marvellous to stop and listen and be surrounded by the sound of the river bubbling and chuckling over the stones. Want to read more?…

One – In March 2003, an article in the Eastern Courier, a local newspaper reported that A secondary school, catering for up to 1000 students, is being built for Howick and Pakuranga’s Catholic community. When I was first associated with the Newsletter which must be at least ten years ago now I was often surprised how much news there was to put into each edition. In those days news consisted of anything that had happened in the province in the last month. Pieces included were sometimes as short as a sentence or two—something that might be as simple as Br X having completed his degree or Fr Y who had just returned from Samoa had given retreats to the SMSM sisters and our men there or perhaps even something about a book published or a new development at Otaki or Akaroa. Notes from the November Council meeting
December 5, 2009.
Among those things discussed at the November Council meeting we:
- Reflected more deeply on the mythology at the heart of the Society in NZ and how that might best be expressed
- Spent time making final arrangements for the Appointments for next year
- Met as the Trustees of the Society of Mary
- Shared on personnel: health, various arrangements;
- Looked at a revised job description for the Care Co-ordinator
- Discussed housing in Hawkes Bay
- Approved in principle the setting up a Marist Youth Ministry Trust
- Received the report from the Spirituality Ministry team
- Discussed Parishes, pastoral areas with particular reference to the North
- Responded to discussion about the proposed Single National Provider.
