Recently, the superior general approved the distribution of ‘special project’ funds to the districts of Africa and Peru/Venezuela.
The district of Africa will be organizing and hosting two meetings in Dakar in 2010 – the first is a colloquium on education with Marists from France, Canada and Cameroon attending, whilst the second is a gathering of Marist laity from Senegal and the region of the ‘Grand Lacs’.
The funds distributed to Peru/Venezuela will be used to renovate the sacristy of the main church in Lancones, a very poor parish in the north of Peru ministered to by Marists.
