Dispersal of Colin Library

Over the last four months the dispersal of the Australian Province’s, Colin Library collection has been going according to the arrangements proposed by the Colin Library Comittee early in 2009, where a ranked order of libraries and individuals could rquest and receive books from the old Marist Seminaary, Catholic Theological College collection. The extracting and boxing of hundreds of books from the lists subbmitted from the vaious receivers has been a long and laborious task for our librarian, Rosie Payn.

Over 2,000 books have already gone to the Veech Library (CIS, Strathfield), 500 – 10,000 have each gone to Campion College (Toongabbie), Pacific Regional Seminary, (Suva, Fiji), Good Shepherd College (Auckland, New Zealand), the Aquinas Academy, Notre Dame University (Sydney) and others.

Early in the dispersal process close to 1,000 books were set aside and will become the core of the reference library for Marist Fathers to be established somewhere on the Hunters Hill precinct.
