In the run up to electing a new provincial, the Superior General has given the nihil obstat to Tim Duckworth, Merv Duffy, David Kennerley, Paul Martin, Thige O’Leary.
The second stage of the election will begin on Monday.
At this point if a candidate gets a simple majority of those who voted he will be named the provincial-elect, otherwise voting will go to a third stage where members of the province will choose between the top two candidates from the second round of voting.
Marist legislation enacted at the 2009 General Chapter meat votes for the first round of voting were counted in Rome.
