The Superior General of the Society of Mary, Fr John Hannan SM has confirmed the re-election of Fr David Kennerley as Provincial of the New Zealand province.
David will start the second term of his mandate on 1 February 2017.

The Province congratulates David on his re-election.
Towards the end of the year David will take a break and re-charge his batteries to prepare for his second term.
The province now prepares to elect a Provincial Council to assist him in his leadership task.
In accordance with the Society’s New Zealand province statutes, the Provincial is entitled to exercise an option to appoint a councillor to the Provincial Council. Fr Kennerley has notified the province he will make the appointment after the election.
One name absent from the list of those eligible to vote for is Fr Merv Duffy.
Also in accord with New Zealand province statutes, a provincial councillor who at the time of the election has served seven consecutive years on the Provincial Council is not eligible for re-election.
The province acknowledges Merv’s contribution and thanks him for his counsel of David Kennerley and the former provincial, Fr Brian Cummings.
