The Other Priests

You’ve possibly heard of “The Priests,” well “The Other Priests” yesterday performed a “one-time only” concert in Wellington’s Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

Thige O’Leary, Chris Skinner, Kevin Head and Pete Roe joined together for the first time and performed the concert in support of Challenge 2000 a youth and social outreach service that is celebrating it’s 21st this year.

Over 400 filled the Cathedral to hear “The Other Priests” sing a range of songs including: Panis Angelicus, the Impossible Dream, Eidelweiss, The Fields of Athenry, My Day in the Hills, You’ll Never Walk Alone.

The 90 minute concert was enhanced by a special guest performance by Fr Peter McAfee, who at the last moment was able to join “The Other Priests”. Peter is passing through New Zealand on his way to to assist at the Spanish speaking Marist Novitiate and was “thrilled to get the call up.”

Challenge 2000 have received lots of positive feedback as a result of the concert, one person saying it was the best $20 they’ve ever spent and would willingly have paid double, while others asked whether it was true that “The Other Priests” were going on tour.

Proceeds from the concert will be put towards Challenge 2000’s youth programmes and family services.
