Another Gold acolate for Mission

At Saturday’s prestigious Air New Zealand Wine competition dinner, Mission was presented with an Elite Gold Medal for its 2007 Syrah.

missionreservesyrah2007Mission received an “Elite Gold” medal at Saturday’s Air New Zealand Wine Show dinner.

Arguably New Zealand’s toughest and most prestigious wine competition for New Zealand wines, the Air New Zealand Wine competition, awards Elite Gold medals to those wines that score either 19 or 20 on a 20 point scale.

Other Elite Gold award winning wines are in limited supply and their recommended retail prices range between $39.90 and $60.95.

The Mission Reserve Syrah 2007 has a recommended retail of $23.00 and is readily available in liquor stores and supermarkets all around the country.

On a personal note, those at a small wine tasting over the weekend who were fortunate enough to try the Mission Syrah were delighted by its structure, dark colour, and excellent fruit characteristics. A full-bodied wine with nuances of black pepper and rich velvety tannins, its of course very young, so ideal to put away for at least a couple of years before opening the next bottle.
