New community house and mission base in Hawkes Bay

The Society of Mary has purchased a four-bedroom house in Taradale, near the Church Road Winery. As announced in the Marist Appointments for 2010, the house will be the home and mission-base for Frank Twiss, Earl Crotty and Bill Archer. The Society had been looking for some time for a six-bedroom house to allow for a community of 4-5 plus a prayer room, and thought we had it secured, however negotiations broke down and we had to go back and resume the search.

Although the house we have purchased is smaller than we would have preferred, the reality is that the market in larger houses in Hawkes Bay is somewhat limited. There was nothing suitable and available to rent and we did have a preference for accommodation in the Taradale / Greenmeadows area.

The house seen as a short-term solution for accommodation in Hawkes Bay while Maryknoll is converted into a Marist residence.
