The Marist Parish Community at St Mary’s Manchester Street is dispersed throughout Christchurch, as earlier today the civil authorities gave the presbytery a Yellow Card.
The “Yellow Card” means “do not enter except on essential business”.

The St Pat’s Coffee Shop provides a peaceful venue bringing people together for friendship and for some it’s a place where they can find a listening ear.
The founder of the Coffee Shop, Sr Judith de Montfort SMSM, is still the coordinator of forty-six volunteer workers who work from 10am – 2pm Sunday to Friday. Eighteen of these belonged to the original group of volunteers!
The St Patrick’s Courtyard Coffee Shop is housed in the former Sisters of Mercy Chapel. The chapel along with the convent were refurbished in the late 1990’s and converted into the coffee shop and presbytery.

Matthew Crawford was ordained by Bishop Patrick Dunn at Whangarei on Saturday September 4. Marists, family and friends travelled extensively to join him for this the culmination of his ten years of seminary formation and to pray for him and wish him well as he begins his ministry as a Marist priest. All the Marists in Christchurch have reported they are safe and well after this morning’s 7.1 earthquake. Damage to community and church property seems to be minor.
